Welcome to Our Class!

Teaching is my calling. I especially love literature and want to share my passion for the art of the written word with students. I like to encourage students to explore their differences and creativity through thoughtful discussion, analysis, and writing. Getting to know who they are through researching their thoughts, opinions, and feelings is a core task that helps students identify and connect with literature. I give students the opportunity to experience new things through literature from around the world, and strive to offer students a unique experience that they will utilize as they become productive members of society.

Personal Info:

I graduated from Olive Branch High School and I am ecstatic to return to Olive Branch schools as a teacher this year. I have busted out my Quistor colors, and I’m ready for those Friday Night Lights! I graduated with honors from the University of Mississippi (Hotty Totty!), and I am a National Board Certified teacher in young adolescent English and Language Arts Instruction. This is my 11th year teaching. Previously, I taught 9th and 10th grade English after teaching 8th English for 3 years. I live right outside of Ashland with my son Blaine, who is the joy of my life. Blaine enjoys anything related to sports or anything he can do outside. On the rare occasion that I find myself with nothing to do, you may find me reading, crafting, cooking, traveling internationally, or drinking copious amounts of tea and coffee.

I hope you will see maturity and growth from your child as the year develops; additionally, I hope they will feel confident going into high school next year. I cannot wait to see what the year holds for us as it unfolds. Please do not hesitate to contact me during school hours if you have any questions or concerns.
