About the Teacher

I grew up in Southaven, MS, and attended Freed Hardeman University, where I received a degree in Middle Grades Math Education. I always dreamed of coming back to DeSoto County to teach, and I'm so thrilled to be here!
I have a wonderful daughter, Molly, and a sweet son, Will. They are my greatest blessings! I am a member of the Southaven church of Christ, and I love all things art related! Painting is one of my biggest passions. Other favorites of mine are Memphis basketball (Go Tigers!), baking, and coffee. I love teaching and interacting with my students on a daily basis, and I especially love helping them grow throughout the year!

Education
I am a graduate of Southaven High School and have a Bachelor of Science in Middle Grades Education (4-8 Math) from Freed Hardeman University. I am so excited to be back teaching in DeSoto County!

Experience
I am certified to teach Math, English, Science, and Social Studies for grades 7 and 8. This is my 7th year teaching math at OBMS.

These are for if you need help with any of the basic understanding you need to complete the lessons we are working on (for example, simple multiplication or division).

After logging in, instead of selecting "Browse" you will select "Classes".  Here I have assigned the lessons and any additional practice that I believe may be of help to you.

Welcome to Mrs. Purvis' classroom!

Struggling with a certain concept or just need more practice outside of class? Don't be afraid to ask for help! I can always find additional resources for you to practice at home. Check out the following websites:

Please be sure to have your 3 ring notebook, your textbook, and your calculator for class everyday!

Any homework assignments that have not been turned in within a 9 weeks term can be submitted for half credit (up to a 50). If you made below a 50 the first time you turned in the homework, you may also correct it and turn it in for half credit. Missing assignments due to absences can receive full credit.

Remember to work hard every day, and it will all pay off! I am excited to have a great year with each of you. We are going to learn so much and grow together as a class. Hang in there - I am here to help you! Let's make it an awesome year!
