Subjects Taught
7th Grade Eastern Hemisphere

I attended Corinth Schools through 5th grade.  My dad was then offered the basketball coaching job in Louisville, MS.  I completed  grades 6 - 9 in the Lousiville School system.  We then moved and I graduated from Booneville High School.  I finished two years at Northeast Mississippi Community College  and then earned my BA from the University of Mississippi in 1990.

My teaching career began right here in Desoto County.   After three years of teaching kindergarten at Horn Lake, we moved to Olive Branch.  At Olive Branch Middle I spent 20 years teaching 6th grade.  In 2013 I moved to 7th grade Social Studies.  The last 2 years I've taught 7th grade Science, but I'm thrilled to be back in Social Studies this year.  You can know for sure that my heart belongs to OBMS!

Teachers and Preachers!

My grandparents, the Reverends Huey and Ruth Wood came to this area in the 80's where my grandfather was minister at Maples Memorial Methodist Church. Grandmother was at Byhalia Methodist Church.  After high school, I followed them and met my husband, Brad Simpson, from Byhalia.  We married in 1990 and bought a house in Olive Branch in 1993.  We have been blessed with three sons; Carlton, a pharmacy technician at Kroger, Ryan, who lives in Booneville,  and Darren, a junior at OBHS talented in the performing arts.

My parents, Mickey and Ann Wood, live in Booneville, Mississippi.  They are both retired from teaching (and coaching.)  I have five younger siblings.

While my father's side of the family has had the preachers, I am one of ten teachers in three generations on my mother's side.  Talk about genetics!!
